It's one of those days when my heart is spilling over with things I need to express. I have had, not an "aha" moment, but an "aha" week. I decided to do a modified fast this week because I was really ready to move to the next level spiritually in my life. I want a deeper more intimate relationship with my Savior. Anyway, it worked and I hope it sticks.
It's super bowl Sunday and an article in the paper noted that this day is 2nd to Thanksgiving for overindulging. Fasting made me acutely aware of how different my life is when I choose to follow Christ and sincerely strive to obey His commandments. The joy I feel today makes me uninterested in the super bowl or in any of the food or behavior associated with what some people would consider one of the best days of the year.
A month ago, I would not have imagined I could be alone on Sunday (Rich was gone today) and be so very happy. It's amazing what God can do.
I am grateful for my faith in Jesus Christ, I am grateful for Rich, I am grateful for my family and I am grateful for my church family.

One of the high points of the year was our trip to Utah in February to be present for Richard's baby blessing and to hear Michelle's rehearsal for her jr recital. It was wonderful to spend that time with Rich, enjoying the kids together. It was wonderful to have extended family come to show their love and support as well. We are blessed with wonderful family. Family is no doubt the source of our greatest joy. Thinking of them puts a smile on my face :)
